Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) - Security
CCIE certification in Security indicates
expert level knowledge of IP and IP routing as well as specific
security protocols and components.

Target Audience:
Experienced network engineers with advanced
skills and knowledge in designing, troubleshooting, securing and
protecting networks.

Prerequisites:
No formal pre-requisites required although
candidates are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the
subtleties, intricacies and challenges of end-to-end networking.
You are strongly encouraged to have 3-5 years of job experience
before attempting certification. CCSP is
strongly recommended.

The CCIE Security exam is in 2 stages:
- CCIE Security Written
Exam: Candidates must pass a two-hour, written
qualification exam covering networking concepts and some equipment
commands before they are eligible to schedule the lab exam.
- CCIE Security Lab Exam: The
eight-hour lab exam tests candidates ability to get a secure
network running in a timed test situation. They must pass the lab
within three years of passing the written to achieve certification.
Their first lab attempt must also be made within 18 months.

Re-certification:
CCIEs are required to pass one CCIE written
exam within the 24-month period preceding their
recertification deadline.
A passing grade on any of the currently
available written exams satisfies the requirement. All CCIEs are
required to recertify.
